Balance, Unity, and Symmetry

 Balance, Unity, and Symmetry

This week we learned about balance, unity, and symmetry, which are all very important when designing something.

Balance

Balance is the visual weight of a room. If your room is much heavier on one side compared to the other, the room is unbalanced. Here is a picture of both.

There are 3 different types of symmetry: normal symmetry, asymmetry, and radial symmetry. Radial symmetry is the most basic of the three, with it just being that both sides of the room are the same. Radial is the second easiest; its room is designed around a circle, and asymmetry is the hardest because it can be easy to make the room feel unbalanced if it's not done well.

  1. Hi Moriah!! I love the examples you chose of a balanced vs and unbalanced room. Also, the interior you chose to represent asymmetry is beautiful! Great blog!

  3. Moriah,
I love your examples of balanced vs unbalanced interiors. I like your sketches. I would like for you to proof read your writing. There are a lot of spelling mistakes in your writing. I would like you to look at an email I will send as to how we are going to proceed.
